Cristiano Ronaldo took one step closer to the international scoring record by scoring four more goals for Portugal in a 5-1 draw against Lithuania in Euro 2020 qualifying on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Portuguese captain is on the battlefield, however, helping his side reach three key points and scoring against the 40th in his best career. Portugal has eight points from four qualifiers, winning the first two to settle for second place in Group B with eight points - and the game is behind Ukraine, which has 13 points through five games. Serbia sits behind Portugal with seven points. The top two teams in each group are eligible for Euro 2020, although Portugal has the wealth of security to be the winner of the Group of Nations (won all competitions) and has at least held the playing field if needed.
On Tuesday, Ronaldo started from the penalty area, following a handball and ending the clinch in the seventh minute. He added goals in the 65th, 65th and 76th minutes, giving him eight international caps and 54 in all competitions for clubs and countries. The 61st minute, which scored 1-1, was a gift from Lithuanian goalkeeper Ernestas Setkus, who went down to block a long shot from Ronaldo, to block the entrance.
